A Nail Salon Near Newlands, Five Minutes Away

Newlands is close enough that several of my regulars walk in still holding a takeaway coffee they bought on the way. It is a short hop over from Newlands Road to Churton Park, and for most people it is quicker than getting to anywhere in the city with somewhere to park at the other end.

Nails by Kirstie is a one-on-one Bio Sculpture studio at 24 Foxham Terrace. One chair, one client, and no waiting room. If you have been looking for a nail salon near Newlands that does not involve a mall, a queue, or a rushed forty minutes, this is probably it.

Appointments that fit around school and work

The thing I hear most from Newlands clients is that the timing matters more than the distance. A lot of my regulars are fitting nails around school drop-off, pick-up, or a job in town.

So it is worth knowing that I run late on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 8:00pm. That means you can come after work, after dinner, or once the kids are sorted, and still not be rushing. Saturdays run 10:00am to 6:00pm, which tends to be the first slot to fill.

A full gel overlay takes 1 hour 45 minutes. That is not because I am slow — it is because doing it properly, with the prep and cure time Bio Sculpture needs, is what makes it last three weeks instead of one. If someone is offering you a gel manicure in forty minutes, something is being skipped.

Why Bio Sculpture, and why only natural nails

I work exclusively with Bio Sculpture gel, and only on natural nails. No acrylics, no BIAB, no SNS, no extensions — and I am not able to remove acrylic or BIAB either.

That sounds limiting written down, and it is deliberate. Bio Sculpture bonds straight to the natural nail without primers, dehydrators or bonders, which are the products behind most of the thin, sore, peeling nails people arrive trying to fix. It stays flexible, so it moves with your nail instead of snapping away from it. And the whole range is vegan and cruelty-free.

If you are currently in that repair situation, there is a full eight-week recovery plan on the blog that walks through what to do. The gel nails page covers how the system works in more depth.

Getting here and what to expect

The studio is at 24 Foxham Terrace, Churton Park, with free off-street parking directly outside. It is a home studio, so there is no shopfront — park outside and come to the front door at your appointment time. Nobody else is booked in, so you will not be waiting.

If it is your first visit and you are not sure what you want, book the $10 consultation. Half an hour, we look at the condition of your nails, hold a few colours against your hand, and work out what will actually suit you before you commit to a full set. There is no pressure to book anything on the day.
